The deputies of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko-Batkivschyna faction have filed an application with the Prosecutor General's Office demanding that Regions Party members involved in a scuffle in parliament on December 16 be brought to justice.

BYT-Batkivschyna faction member Serhiy Mischenko told reporters that six BYT MPs had been injured in the fighting, in particular, Yevhen Suslov, Yuriy Hnatkevych, Mykhailo Volynets, Vasyl Kravchuk, Volodymyr Bondarenko, and Mykola Petruk.

Mischenko said that four of these deputies were in hospital and that they had asked him to appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office on their behalf, while Bondarenko and Petruk said they would do this by themselves.

"Doctors recommended that the MPs not move, so they authorized me to submit an application to institute criminal proceedings against individuals who committed illegal criminal actions against them," he said.

Mischenko also named the Regions Party deputies who should be prosecuted. Among them are Petro Tsiurko, Dmytro Salamatin, Vadym Stolar, Oleh Tsariov, Anatoliy Horbatiuk, Oleksandr Peklushenko and Oleksandr Volkov. He noted that this was not a final list and that the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko would demand that criminal cases be also opened against other Regions Party members.

He said that the Prosecutor General’s Office should respond to the application within ten days.
