The Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense (OU-PSD) and BYT-Batkivschyna factions have demanded that Ukraine's prosecutor general report on a fight that broke in the parliament's session hall on Dec. 16.

"We demand that the prosecutor general immediately arrive in parliament to present a respective report on the beating of deputies," OU-PSD faction leader Mykola Martynenko said at a morning sitting of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.

He recalled the promise of Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn to discuss the situation at another meeting of the parliament’s conciliatory council, and said that his faction was ready to take a break and discuss the issue right now.

BYT-Batkivschyna faction leader Ivan Kyrylenko said that the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office should immediately report to the Verkhovna Rada on the incident.

He said that officials involved in a scuffle in parliament on December 16 should be dismissed.

"We should immediately stop political repression, close criminal cases that were fabricated, and all political prisoners should be freed immediately," Kyrylenko said.
