The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, will hear a report on pension reform by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Social Policy Minister Sergiy Tigipko on Friday, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn has said.

"We decided that this hour [the hour of questions for the government on Friday] will be dedicated to prospects for pension reform," Lytvyn said during a conciliatory council of the heads of parliamentary factions and committees in Kyiv on December 20.

The speaker stressed that Tigipko would provide information on the issue and answer MPs’ questions on the issue.

Lytvyn said the Cabinet of Ministers had decided to revise the bill on pension reform and had withdrawn it from the parliament.

"As for pension reform and the text of the bill, we have the following situation: the Cabinet of Ministers submitted a corresponding draft law, the Verkhovna Rada registered it, and then the Cabinet of Ministers withdrew it for revision," the speaker said.

As reported, the agenda of the plenary week on December 21-24 includes 115 issues, in particular, the draft state budget for 2011, a bill on amendments to the Budget Code of Ukraine and some other legislative acts will be considered at second reading during a sitting on Thursday.
