The main investigation department of the Prosecutor General's Office expects former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko to visit the PGO on January 13 to examine the materials of a criminal case opened against her.

The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement on its Web site on Thursday that an investigator "calmly accepts all of the whims" of Tymoshenko.

"Tymoshenko will not be summoned to the prosecutor’s office today, on January 6. She was summoned to appear on January 10 as a defendant to examine the materials of her criminal case, but due to the fact that she filed a petition to move this to January 13 due to the inability of her lawyer to be present at this time, the investigator satisfied her request," reads the statement.

The authors of the statement said that each time she visits the Prosecutor General’s Office, Tymoshenko "in her interviews tries to discredit the employees of the main investigation department by resorting to blatant lies."

The press service said that Tymoshenko said on January 5 that she had been allegedly "questioned about why she had attended a court hearing on the Lutsenko case."

"In fact, the investigator warned her about her failure to appear at an appointed time without good reason, because she was summoned for 1200, but appeared only at 1600. In response, Tymoshenko referred to the family circumstances, although the entire country was able to see she was at the Kyiv Court of Appeals," reads the statement.

The Prosecutor General’s Office also rejected Tymoshenko’s claim that 18 investigators were involved in her case.

"This is another lie. They are only two. The prosecutor’s office has a lot of other things to do," the press service reported.

"It’s clear from all of the above mentioned that Tymoshenko is deliberately distorting and manipulating the facts for the sake of gaining political dividends," the press service reported.
