You're reading: Former Polish Foreign Minister: Many do not believe Yanukovych’s intentions are sincere

The strength of the Ukrainian president's foreign policy is that he can build the relations with the West without looking at Russia, its weakness is that many people in the West do not believe in the sincerity of his intentions, former foreign minister of Poland, Professor Adam Rotfeld has said.

"Knowing that he has good relations with Russia, nobody would suspect him of developing the relations with the EU against Moscow, so he could afford to speak with the West without looking at the Russian side. This is his strength. His weak spot is that many people in the West do not believe in the sincerity of his intentions – the pursued policies should be consistent…" Rotfeld said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine."
