The statement by Ukrainian Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov concerning the alleged preparations for the bloodshed during the Day of Reunion of Ukraine shows the intentions of the authorities to intimidate people and keep them from participating in these events, Batkivschyna Party Leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said.

"All the statements by the current authorities concerning any kinds of [prepared] bloodshed during the celebration of the Reunion Day show only that they are so afraid that they are trying to intimidate people so they do not come to celebrate the Reunion Day," she told reporters on Tuesday after exiting the main investigation department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

At the same time, Tymoshenko stressed: "This won’t help them. The Ukrainian nation is beginning to understand what has been done with the state over the last year and begins to feel the effect of the so-called reforms of [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych."

She called the Reunion Day a very important holiday and called upon all who care to come on Saturday, Jan. 22, to the Sophia Square.

Tymoshenko said they will have an opportunity not only to celebrate the Reunion Day, but also to work out a joint action plan "to organize a resistance movement to everything which is being done by the authorities, which contradicts the rights and freedoms of people."
