Leader of the Batkivschyna Party and Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko may damage her image by holding a joint event to mark Day of Unity of Ukraine with Leader of the Svoboda Association Oleh Tiahnybok, Director of Kyiv-based Center for Political and Conflict Studies Mykhailo Pohrebynsky has said.

"I think that this [joint event] discredits Tymoshenko and her image. But she still agreed to take part together with Tiahnybok. This is the main risk," he said during a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

Pohrebynsky added that Tiahnybok decided to hold the rally with Tymoshenko because he is convinced that he will manage "to win at the rally." In addition, the political scientist said that if such slogans as "East and West Together!" were to be heard on Sofiyska Square, this would be "lies."

"Any person ready to stand side by side with Tiahnybok denies him or herself the right to offer their hands to Donetsk region residents," Pohrebynsky said.
