You're reading: Ukrainian speaker promises to install new voting system in parliament

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn intends to sign a regulation to put into operation the Rada 3 modernized voting system, which will guarantee that each deputy will have to vote for himself.

"Next week I will sign a regulation to put this system into operation, whether you like it or not," Lytvyn said during a morning session of the parliament on Wednesday.

The speaker also said that the new voting system is being currently prepared, and will be tested and put into operation soon.

Lytvyn stressed that parliament cannot "stand this shame" any longer, because the public, including journalists, are calling members of the parliament "button pushers."

"And they are right," he added.
