Vladivostok, August 18 (Interfax) - A 16-year-old boy has been injured in the second shark attack in the past 24 hours off the coast of the Khasan district in Russia's Primorye territory.

"The attack occurred off Zheltukhin Island. The boy suffered injuries to his hips, and an artery was damaged. He has already received emergency medical aid, and a speedboat is now delivering him to a hospital in Vladivostok," Ruslan Druzhinin, spokesman for the Khasan district’s emergency situations service, told Interfax.

A shark bit off both arms of a 25-year-old man 50 meters from the coast in the Khasan district of Primorye on Wednesday. He underwent surgery in the hospital of Slavyanka village.

The shark attacks have prompted the local authorities to impose a temporary ban on swimming off the Khasan district’s coast.
