You're reading: Russia to make 35.5 million doses of swine flu vaccine by the end of the year

Moscow, November 2 (Interfax) - The first people to be vaccinated against swine flu will be those living in regions that border districts where the number of cases are above the epidemic threshold, said Russian Minister of Health Care and Social Development Tatyana Golikova.

"The regions that will be the first to receive a vaccine against the A/H1N1 virus will be identified in the near future. Golikova said that the first supplies of vaccinations will be sent to regions bordering those where the number of cases are above the epidemic threshold," the Health Care and Social Development Ministry said in a statement.

"The plan is to produce 35.5 million vaccine doses before the end of 2009 and 43 million vaccine doses before the end of January 2010," the ministry said in the statement issued on Monday after an emergency meeting between the Russian health minister and domestic manufacturers of swine flu vaccines.
