Twenty-four Russian military servicemen die through crimes, accidents in October

Moscow- Twenty-four servicemen died in the Russian armed forces through crimes or accidents in October, the Defense Ministry has reported.

Twelve of these servicemen committed suicide and the other twelve in accidents, including four in road accidents, the ministry said on its official Web site.

From January through October 2009, 297 Russian military servicemen died, including 149 as a result of suicides, it said.

As many as 1,257 crimes were registered in the Russian armed forces in October and 11,653 in January-October 2009.
