You're reading: Georgia reports first death from swine flu

TBILISI, Georgia — Georgia’s Health Minister says a 27-year-old man in the western city of Batumi has become the first swine flue victim in the ex-Soviet nation.

Alexander Kvitashvili told journalists the victim died Saturday and five more people have been hospitalized with symptoms of the disease.

The small Caucasus Mountains nation has reported 580 cases of swine flu.
