The format of relations between Ukraine and Russia will change after the presidential election is over, says newly appointed Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov.

"I'm absolutely sure that the format of relations after the runoff will change irrespective of who the Ukrainian people elect," he said on Sunday evening.

He described both presidential candidates, Viktor Yanukovych and Yulia Tymoshenko, as "pragmatic and understanding what advantages Russian-Ukrainian cooperation and normal relations between Russia and Ukraine bring.

"I'm definitely sure that each of them will be building his or her own policy with due regard for that factor," he said.
