Moscow, March 9 (Interfax) - The authorities in Moscow are ready to take a number of steps that could lead to the introduction of visa-free travel between Russia and EU member states, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a news conference after talks with his Finnish counterpart Alexander Stubb in Moscow on Mar. 9.

"We in Russia will be ready to take additional specific measures that should become part of visa-free regulations," Lavrov said.

The Russian minister said that during their talks, Stubb had mentioned Russia’s registration rules for foreigners arriving in the country.

"Our partners have already told us more than once that this creates quite serious practical problems for foreigners staying in Russian territory. I have told him that we will tackle this problem," he said.

"The most important thing is to prevent new artificial conditions that could delay the adoption of political decisions," Lavrov said.

The Russian minister said he was convinced that "a political decision can include all aspects of visa-free travel that should be put into practice."
