Moscow, June 22 (Interfax) - Gazprom is working on options for delivering gas to Europe on routes that bypass Belarus, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said on Vesti 24 television.

Belarus announced today it would halt transit of Russian gas to Europe.

The Russian gas giant plans to divert gas flows through Ukraine, for which Kyiv has already given its consent. Gazprom will also make use of gas in underground storage in Europe and is looking at spot markets. The needs of Russia’s Kaliningrad region will be met with shipments via Lithuania.

"We don’t see any problems. Our clients in Europe will see the required volumes of gas in accordance with Gazprom contracts," Kupriyanov said.

Gazprom has received a letter from Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko "giving official notice of the start to removing gas from transit pipelines to meet domestic Belarusian needs."

"It’s not just our gas, it’s our pipeline [Yamal-Europe]," Kupriyanov said.
