Moscow, July 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will upgrade the radars in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in line with a program for military-technical cooperation with countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and supply spare parts and components for the allies' air defense systems, says a report, circulated in Moscow on Tuesday at a meeting of the Coordinating Air Defense Committee under the CIS countries' Defense Ministers Council.

"In accordance with a contract with the Nitel company, signed in 2009, the RLS-P-18 radar in Kyrgyzstan will be partially modernized, with the installation of an information display at the command post of the surface-to-air missile brigade," the report says.

In line with a contract signed by the Russian state arms trader Rosoboronexport, a similar radar will be upgraded in Tajikistan.

After receiving requests from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the Almaz-Antey concern is planning shipments of spare parts and components to these countries’ air defense systems.

At the request of the Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense commander, a possibility is being considered to repair components for S-300PS missile systems by Russian specialists.

A command-post drill has been scheduled for October, involving control structures and units-on-duty of the Joint Air Defense System of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and two bilateral Russian-Uzbek and Russian-Ukrainian command-post exercises will be held in October.
