Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has told regional executives to keep wood fires under control. By Tuesday, July 27, 575 pockets of forest fires have been registered with 282 fires still blazing, covering a total of 52,000 hectares.
“Regional authorities are responsible for forest fire protection, including construction and modernization of roads, the creation of helicopter landing sites, as well as fire prevention measures,” Putin said during a video conference with regional officials on Tuesday. Read the story here.
