You're reading: Russia notes ‘radical improvement’ in relations with Ukraine

The Kremlin has taken note of a radical improvement in Russian-Ukrainian relations as of late and that they have stepped back on the track of friendship and good-neighborliness.

"The atmosphere of Russian-Ukrainian relations has radically changed, contacts in many areas have intensified and a constructive and committed working dialog is broadening," a Kremlin source said in connection with President Dmitry Medvedev’s meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych on September 17 and 18.

It is the eighth Russian-Ukrainian summit this year, the Kremlin source said.

"All this vividly indicates that bilateral relations have returned to the habitual path of friendship and good-neighborliness, and are acquiring a new quality, confirming the strategic nature of our partnership," he said.
