You're reading: Kyrgyzstan must speed up election results announcement

Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies will not allow the destabilization of the domestic situation, Keneshbek Dushebayev, head of the Kyrgyz Security Service said.

"I am certain that law enforcement agencies will not allow the destabilization of the domestic situation because today both their combat characteristics and morale are at their height," Dushebayev told a press conference on Monday.

Overall, the situation in Kyrgyzstan is stable, he said. All governmental and law enforcement agencies are working as usual, he said.

However, "the country is living in the expectation of the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections held on October 10," Dushebayev said. "I hope this will happen in the next few days," Dushebayev said.

"A series of failures and mistakes affected the election results," he said. "Summing them up is the duty of the republic’s Central Election Commission and the protraction of this issue is causing a stir among the public," Dushebayev said.

The National Security Service is aware of the fact that leaders of some political parties are bringing their supporters to Bishkek, he said. "Apparently, this is being done to speed up the announcement of the election results," Dushebayev said.
