You're reading: Russian journalist attacked, second in two days

MOSCOW(AP) — A journalist who works for a suburban Moscow paper has been beaten up by two unknown men.

The attack on Anatoly Adamchuk came two days after a Moscow newspaper reporter was beaten so badly he was hospitalized with a head injury, shattered jaw and broken leg.

No motivation for either attack has been determined, but both journalists wrote about efforts to protect forests around Moscow.

Police in the town of Zhukovsky say they are investigating Monday’s attack on Adamchuk, who was not hospitalized.

The brutal beating of Kommersant reporter Oleg Kashin, who had to be put in a drug-induced coma, has caused a national uproar. President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered that his attackers be found and punished.
