Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will soon join the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space.

"No doubt, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will soon join the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, and the process of integration in Eurasia will further continue to develop effectively. We are confident that the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan will soon join the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space so as to jointly follow the path of enhancing the socio-economic integration of our countries," according to a declaration adopted after a session of the Customs Union supreme body held as part of the EurAsEC Interstate Council in Moscow on Thursday.

The text of the declaration was released by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s press office.

"The Customs Union and the Common Economic Space are open to other nations joining," the declaration said.

"By developing the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, we are moving toward the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union in order to ensure harmonious, mutually complementing and mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries, international economic organizations and the European Union with the eventual creation of a common economic space," the declaration said.
