You're reading: Ukrainian detained in Minsk to be released before New Year

Consul of the Embassy of Ukraine in Belarus visited at the temporary detention facility the Ukrainian citizen, who was detained during the December 19 protests in Minsk.

The consul said that the Ukrainian is in good health and does not complain about the conditions of confinement, spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax-Ukraine.

The diplomat asked the leadership of the detention facility to release the Ukrainian citizen as soon as possible. The warden assured him that the Ukrainian will be released at 1500 on December 31.

As reported, two Ukrainians were detained in Minsk for participation in the December 19 protests against the alleged rigging of that day’s presidential election. One of them was released on December 29.
