The Ukrainian parliament approved a pension reform. The retirement age for women will increase from 55 to 60 years. The increase would occur gradually over ten years, six months for the year. Also, the retirement age for males working as civil servants will be increased from 60 to 62 years. In one case, reform is necessary to increase the flow of funds into the pension fund. But on the other hand, it is a requirement of the International Monetary Fund to issue the next tranche of the loan. Lydia Tkachenko is a leading research worker of the Institute of Demography and Social Studies of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
