A Kyiv court has officially banned tours to Chornobyl and its surroundings.The popular “radioactive” tourism was suspended back in June 2011, after a check-up by the prosecutor general. Officials ruled that the Emergencies Ministry did not have the right to authorise trips to Chornobyl without permission from the Interior Ministry. Since the early 2000s, Chornobyl, the scene of the world’s worst nuclear disaster, has been attracting a growing stream of adventurers hungry for a glimpse of its post-apocalyptic landscape.
