Yulia Tymoshenko has lost the Ukrainian presidential election to pro-Russian rival Victor Yanukovych but is still refusing to concede defeat, even though international observers say there was no fraud. German media commentators say she must back down to help end the country's damaging division. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko narrowly lost the presidential election to her arch rival Victor Yanukovych on Sunday, but was quoted on Tuesday as saying she will "never recognize" the victory of pro-Russian rival Victor Yanukovych.
