Frank Caprio, Democratic candidate for governor in Rhode Island, demanded answers from independent opponent Lincoln Chafee after a GoLocalProv investigation revealed that Chafee continues to work as a consultant for a Ukrainian foundation established by a controversial billionaire with alleged ties to organized crime.

“I am calling on Lincoln Chafee to be honest with the people of Rhode Island and to be forthcoming with answers to the following questions,” Caprio said in a statement yesterday.

Caprio posed the following questions: 1. Did Mr. Chafee have any association with Rinat Akhmetov while serving as a United State Senator and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee?
2. How and when was Mr. Chafee first approached by Rinat Akhmetov or his associates about the position in the Ukraine?
3. What did Mr. Chafee know about Mr. Akhmetov before accepting a position? Read the story here.
