D & G Standard: Robert Burns collected poems in Ukrainian and Scots

Most of Burns' poems were written in Scots. They document and celebrate traditional Scottish culture, expressions of farm life, and class and religious distinctions.

AN EXCITING new edition of Robert Burns Poetry was launched in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on Monday.

The National Museum of Print, situated within the walls of the ancient Kievan Monastery of Caves, was the venue chosen to launch this unique book of Ukrainian translations of Robert Burns. Selected Works.

The publication coincides with the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birthday and was sponsored by the members of the Burns Howff Club, Dumfries, the Friends of Ukraine Scottish Foundation and other generous individuals in Ukraine and Scotland .
