Roman Olearchyk writes: Dmytro Firtash, the Kyiv-based billionaire, has bought Ukraine’s Cherkassy Azot fertiliser producer for a price thought to be up to $800 million, in his third chemical plant acquisition since last summer. Announced on March 2, the deal will turn Firtash, represented by his Vienna-based Ostchem chemical group, into one of the region’s largest producers. It follows his acquisition late last year of Ukraine’s Stirol fertiliser and pharmaceutical plant and Severodonetsk Azot chemical plant.
