Russia could send its Baltic, Black Sea ships to fight Somali pirates

Kaliningrad, November 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian warships from the Baltic and Black Sea Fleets could be sent to the Horn of Africa to fight piracy, Gen. Nikolai Makarov, chief of the Russian General Staff, told journalists in Kaliningrad on Friday.

"A more detailed plan of anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden is currently being prepared," Makarov said.

This operation will involve Black and Baltic Sea Fleet warships, he said.
