European Union calls for full resumption of Russian gas deliveries
Jan 2, 2009 at 23:28 | Reuters"Energy relations between the EU and its neighbours should be based on reliability and predictability," the Czech Presidency of the 27-nation bloc said in a statement following disruptions in supply of gas to several member states.
"Existing commitments to supply and transit have to be honoured under all circumstances. The European Union calls for an urgent solution to the commercial dispute on gas supplies from the Russian Federation to Ukraine, and for an immediate resumption of full deliveries of gas to the EU member states."
The EU also said that it regretted "the fact that assurances of the reliability of energy supply have not been met and that it would monitor the situation closely.
