Moscow voices concern over Chisinau events

The Russian side voiced serious concern over the irresponsible actions by forces that are not interested in preserving Moldova's statehood," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"The Transdniestrian issue was also touched upon, in particular the role of international mediators and observers in promoting the resumption of negotiations in keeping with the results of the Moscow meeting between the leaders of Moldova and Transdniestria, mediated by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev " the statement says.
On April 7-8, Chisinau was rocked by mass opposition riots in protest against the results of the April 5 parliamentary polls that gave the ruling Communist Party a clear majority.
About 200 people, including 100 policemen, were injured and 43 were hospitalized. One person remains in critical condition.
