You're reading: EU interested in buying Turkmen gas

Ashgabat, July 16 (Interfax) - The European Union countries are deeply interested in natural gas supplies from Turkmenistan, General Director of Belgium's ENEX Process Engineering SA Koen Minne said at a meeting with country's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow on Thursday.

The guest voiced the proposals of the European Commission, the Turkmen State News Service said.

“Turkmenistan, which established itself as a global energy power, is perceived in Europe as an exclusively reliable and responsible partner, whose approach to cooperation is consistent with the goal of ensuring global energy security,” the businessman said.

“Turkmenistan invariably calls for diversification of its energy supplies to world markets,” Berdimuhammedow said.

The existing resources make it possible to implement any large project in this area, he said.

As part of its energy policy, Turkmenistan is prepared for mutually beneficial cooperation with its strategic partners, including EU countries, the president said.
