BRATISLAVA (AP) — An official says a swine flu victim has died in Slovakia, becoming the nation's first known fatality from the illness.

Health Ministry spokeswoman Zuzana Cizmarikova says the 48-year-woman died Friday in Bratislava's university clinic. The woman also had several other serious health problems and probably died of heart failure.

Slovakia currently is suffering from about 200 cases of the flu.

The country has tightened border controls with Ukraine after a recent surge in flu cases there. Authorities in Slovakia said they plan to close all the border crossings with its neighbor but one if the situation does not improve.
