The New York Times: The Saturday word is blizzard

President Obama is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting today at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, but with inches of snow fast becoming feet, the blizzard will likely keep many of the Democratic rainmakers at home.

For those who are indeed snowbound, the D.N.C. is streaming the president’s speech at 10:30 a.m. on its site.

The Washington area was pummeled by 18 inches of snow overnight and about another foot is expected throughout the day. The Washington Post reports that nearly 100,000 have lost power and basically everything is closed. The region hasn’t seen this much snow since 1922.
