WASHINGTON - A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Guantanamo, Cuba, on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported

The quake was centered 27 miles (43 km) southwest of Guantanamo and had a depth of 14 miles (22 km), the USGS said.

The United States has a naval base at Guantanamo Bay that includes a prison housing 188 detainees. There was no immediate word on damages.
