Greek truck drivers say they won't back down from protests that have threatened to disrupt fuel supplies, after negotiations with the government again broke down.

Drivers oppose plans by the Socialist government to liberalize tightly regulated professions, and on Wednesday continued protests for a third day, parking their trucks on the side of highways near Athens and other cities.

The government withdrew temporary price caps on gasoline Wednesday, saying the measure is no longer necessary because supplies to gas stations are considered adequate.

A weeklong truck strike in July caused serious fuel shortages and hurt Greece’s tourism industry.
