MOSCOW, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Flooding in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar killed 11 people and three were missing, state-owned RIA news agency reported on Saturday.
Heavy rain in the mountainous area caused rivers to overflow, flooding 24 villages, Interfax news agency reported.
"According to the latest data, 11 people died and three have gone missing. Their identities are being established," Krasnodar regional administration spokesman Vladimir Prigoda was quoted as saying by RIA.
The rains had subsided by Saturday in the mainly agricultural region, 1,500 km (930 miles) south of Moscow.
Local authorities had evacuated 280 people from the area, the Emergencies Ministry said on its website.
President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the Regional Development Ministry to estimate the scope of the disaster and provide aid to the victims, his spokeswoman Natalia Timakova told the RIA news agency.
