Finding Oleksandr Yanukovych’s charity fund

I didn't need much from the charity fund started by Oleksandr Yanukovych, oldest son of President Viktor Yanukovych.

I only wanted a comment clarifying what help they provided to Maryana Yatseviyuk, Ukraine's deaf beauty queen and the winner of Miss Deaf Europe.

I expected it to be as easy as googling the name and finding the official website. None of the google hits led to the fund.

Maybe because they just don't exist at all?

My helpful colleagues dug out a contact number of Nataliya Boiko, his press secretary. She replied fast and, after a pause, gave me the phone number of the receptionist for the MACO that Oleksandr Yanukovych owns. No one answered for two days.

I called Boiko again. She assured me that the fund exists and even has an address -- 102 Bohdana Khmelnytskogo Street in Donetsk. But I still had no luck.

It would have been the right time to give up.

But then I came upon another press contact at the MACO company, Yulia Radzinskaya. She promised help, and eventually passed on the phone number of a guy named Volodymyr. He said it was a wrong number. Radzinskaya gave me another number. It appeared to be not in service. Eventually, my contacts were passed on to a Volodymyr, who said “the judicial structure of the fund is being reconstructed.”

Imagine what happens to people who need money urgently.

Not exactly Catholic Charaties' transparency. First Lady Katerina Yushchenko involved herself in numerous charitable projects while her husband was in office, as is standard operating procedure for the US presidential wives. The Ukraine 3000 International Foundation that she chaired key priority is better health for Ukraine’s children. The Supervisory Board of Ukraine 3000 Foundation, established in 2001, has been chaired by some of Ukraine’s most prominent educational, humanitarian, cultural, literary and sports figures. All programs are sunshine clean and projects of the Foundation are implemented within three major areas: "Ukraine Yesterday", "Ukraine Today" and "Ukraine Tomorrow". The biggest projects of the Foundation are the "Hospital to Hospital" program, the construction and support of the "Children's Hospital of the Future" and "The Joy of Childhood – Free Movements" program. Although Cathy worked diligently with transparent books all was nearly scuttled by Ukraine's construction mafia greed. Charity begins at home unless home is Ukraine.

Daryne, you should also look for Lytvyn's charity.

His "charitable fund" is passing out bicycles instead of buckwheat in Zhytomir. However, it's only doing that in Election District No. 65 - where Lytvyn will be running for Parliament.

The rest of the oblast - well, that's not in his election district.

As a matter of fact, there are many, many "charitable funds" giving out assorted goodies in Zookraine - ahead of elections.
