The face of one of the most mysterious Ukrainian rich men is still unknown for the majority of people. His career growth impresses experienced post-soviet business circles. 20 years ago Dmitrii Firtash was the fireman in Chernovtsy and now he is the owner of the 90% of Centragas Holding AG stocks – company which owns 50% of ruefully known RosUkrEnergo stocks.
Firtash sold meat, milk, butter, cars, then gas among these 2 stages of the career. He was the co-founder of some companies which were related to odious businessman Semen Mogilevich which is on FBI investigation. It is known that majority of 1990 years were spent in Ashkhabad - he carried the products to Turkmenistan and got the gas which he sold to Ukraine.
Fixed relations were useful later when Russian Gasprom began the extension of its influence spheres. In 2005 unknown RosUkrEnergo company appeared which signed contract with Ukraine at the beginning of 2006. Some time nobody knew about the owners of the company. Then Firtash confirmed oozed information and said that he isthe co-owner of RosUkrEnergo that controls gas delivery from Central Asia to Europe.
It's interesting that until spring the owner of TV channels K1, K2 and basketball club Kiev didn’t communicated with journalists, he was never photographed. When Firtash decided to appear he give the interview to 3 publications at the same time – Austria Courier, British Financial Times and American The Wall Street Journal. Such haste was suspicious of Firtash possible attempts to misdirect attention from real owners of RosUkrEnergo that live in Moscow as experts say.
However billionaire denies his proximity to Kremlin and explains his relation to the world zoom contract only by his professional qualities. “I work 24 hours a day.No vacations. Nobody knows this business as I do”, - he says.
