Yuri Andrukhovychis one of the most famous Ukrainian cultural figures. His works are very famous in Ukraine and abroad. Books and publicistic works of Andrukhovych are translated and published in many countries of Europe.
Western critics define Andrukhovych as one of the most brilliant representatives of postmodernism, comparing his meaning in the word literature hierarchy with Umberto Eco. His products were translated into 8 European languages and his novel “Perversion” was published in Germany, Italy, Poland. The book of essays was published in Austria.
Andrukhovych graduated from Lvov Institute of poligraphy where he studied at the literature reduction and special journalism department. Then he finished Higher literary courses inGorkiy literary institute in Moscow.
Young Andrukhovych is the founder of postmodernism stream in Ukrainian literature headedthe famous literary group “Bu-Ba-Bu” (burlesque-farce-buffoonery) which united authors from Kyiv, Lvov, Stanislav.
In the early90-s in common with Y. Izdryk Andrukhovych started publishing 1st in Ukraine postmodernistic magazine “Thursday”. Today he is the editor-in-chief of literary miscellany of modern polish prose “Train 76”.
Yuri Andrukhovych is a coordinator of Ivano-Frankovsk regional department of Ukrainian writers Association.
Andrukhovych is a prize-winner of many prestigious awards and prizes.
The writer is much occupied with public activity. He states his civic position pronounced, supporting the European integration of Ukraine.
He is honored with the polish literary award Angelus for his novel 12 hoops.
