Sviatoslav Vakarchukis the leader and the author of almost all thesongs of “Okean Elzy” band.

Education: physicist, has ended post study of Lviv National Univercity. Has started to be engaged in music only in 1994, having based the "Ocean Elzy" group, and in a year their first concert has been given in his native city.

During"orange revolution" in November-December, 2004 he was the adviser on the youth policy and culture of the candidate onthe post of the President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko. Actively participated in protest actions, gave numerous interviews to the western press, gave concerts on the Maidan in support of "orange revolution".

In 2005 he was appointed the goodwill ambassador of the program of the development of the United Nations for Ukrainian youth. In April, 2006 Svjatoslav Vakrachuk received the Ukrainian premium ShowBiz Award in the nomination "The best performer of the year".

Musical hobbies — Edit Piaf, Rolling Stones. Also takes a great interest in Japanese culture and literature, favorite authors — Jukio Misima and Haruki Murakami.
