Igor Kolomoysky is fond of buying up of mass media outlets. He purchased 3% of the shares of the Central European Media Enterprises for $110 million and entered the board of directors of the largest international media corporation. As is known, in Ukraine this corporation owns the control package of Studio One Plus One, channels Kino and City. Getting stronger, Kolomoysky buys from brothers Grigory and Igor Surkis 50% of the shares of TET TV channel.

The assets of the Dnepropetrovsk businessman work at Glavred media holding, which owns Information Agency UNIAN, weekly Profile, newspapers Novaya Gazeta and Gazeta po Kievsky. In addition, a key business partner of the Kolomoysky, Gennady Bogolyubov (#4), according to Kolomoysky himself, has a good deal in Focus magazine and in newspaper Komsomolsaya Pravda.

In other words the financial and Industrial group Privat overgrows with media assets. Why is that? May be for the sake of publicity of their owners? Hardly. Simply because Kolomoysky neighbors in the top 50 list, have sharp teeth. Victor Pinchuk (#2) is armed with newspaper Facty and three national TV channels, not counting the musical M1 and M2 channels (Novy Channel, STB and ICTV). So the owner of Interpipe, Pinchuk, attached Kolomoysky from these cannons during the defensive of Nikopolskiy ferroalloys plant.

Rinat Akhmetov (#1), in addition to the daily newspaper Segodnya, has a personal megaphone on TV channel Ukraine. This double-barrelled gun is always ready to fire at the Dnepropetrovsk businessman, who is in a state of permanent conflict with Donetsk businessmen. When an ordinary person wants to talk to another ordinary person, they both use a telephone. But multimillionaires acquire TV channels for the same purpose. Such are the rules of the big business in Ukraine.
