The Kyiv City Mayor, Leonid Chernovetsky is a good and honest man. Everybody knows it. Just watch the news on TV channel Kyiv or read Khreschatyk newspaper. But holiness is the not the only dignity of multimillionaire Chernovetsky. He owns one of most active banks on the market of consumer credits - Praveks bank.   

However, in the beginning of February of 2008, Italian financial group Intesa Sanpaolo agreed to purchase from Chernovetsky family their bank business for eur 504 million. It was planned to complete the transaction within a few months. Time goes by, but the bank is still here. And there is no telling how the events will develop in the near future.

Because only four months prior to the transaction, Stepan Chernovetsky, the son the capital mayor and the head of the supervisory board of Praveks bank, publicly declared: “There is no decision by the shareholders about the sale of Praveks bank, and it is a fact. We are quite negative about any such rumor”. And four days prior to that he said: “There are no negotiations with any bank at all”. Honesty is the not the strongest side of Chernovetsky. But on the other hand, whoever is without a sin, may throw a stone at him.
