In the middle of May of 2008 Ernest Galiev almost got into a fight for one of the attractive assets of Ukraine - Odessa portside plant. Galiev’s company Ukrinvest, wanted to take part in a competition for this largest chemical industry enterprise in the country.

But one day prior to the auction, the President of Ukraine cancelled the auction and the competitors were sent their own way. It is hard to say, whether millionaire Galiev was frustrated or not because of this, in fact Galiev had very slim chances to compete with Igor Kolomoysky (#3) or Dmitry Firtash (#9). Even despite the fact that his business partner is Alexander Yaroslavsky (#10), and that Galiev himself makes money on trading in black and nonferrous metals, and on the country’s financial market as a founder and a member of the supervisory board of Ukrsibbank.  Galiev is young. And even though he has been in the big business since 18 years old (almost half his life), he just gets experience. By the way, he demonstrates a wonderful result. For the past three years this Kharkiv businessman managed to triple his capital.
