Victor Nusenkis - Energy-intensive

Net Worth: $3.3billion (June 2008)

Age: 53 years old

Marital status: Married, has a son

Last year: $1.1 billion

Industry: Coal, finances, metallurgy

Victor Nusenkis expands his business empire. And he is right. No one can go far on coal and metal alone. Nowadays every self-respectful Ukrainian multimillionaire fights for strategic raw material – iron ore. A joint owner of business concern Energy is one of them. In January, Ukrainian media reported that Nusenkis purchased a company Industrial Group Magnetit, which owns iron ore mining license in the Zaporizhzhya region.

What does it mean? Nothing, except for the fact that Nusenkis’s business becomes more independent from large nation’s proprietors of mining and concentration complexes, such as Rinat Akhmetov (#1), Igor Kolomoysky (#2) and Konstantin Zhevago (#5). Now Energy will be able to independently provide its enterprises with strategic raw materials. If, of course, the mining is successful. Though it should be noted that Nusenkis does not embark on a project that is doomed to fail. That is why Nusenkis, one of the leaders of the Greek Diaspora, has quite a decent financial standing. And it took him only one year to shift from the 13th to the 7th place in the rating of the richest Ukrainians.
