the chairman of the board of directors of Donbas Industrial Union (ISD) walks about the hall of the Moscow’s president hotel. He is in a good mood. ISD successfully negotiates about the creation of a joint venture with Metalloinvest holding, that belongs to Alisher Usmanov. According to Forbes, Usmanov’s assets are worth $9.5 billion, and what is more important for Taruta, Usmanov owns iron deposits.
Korrespondent asked the Taruta, when will this transaction be completed. During one month, the businessman answered. It was March, but neither by April nor even by May there was no news from a Taruta -Usmanov duet.
While the eastern front of ISD is calm, on the western front the work is humming. According to the rating by the Polish Society for Supporting Entrepreneurship, ISD Polska is a new owner of the Gdansk shipyard and it entered into the number of companies, which made a considerable contribution to the improvement of Polish industry and economy in 2007.
This deed cost Taruta a lot of blood, which the European Commission sucks out from the Ukrainian businessman, demanding to compensate the governmental grants for the shipyard, namely $307 million. In his interview to Korrespondent, Taruta named these requirements far-fetched, which means that the European commissars will not get anything from this Donetsk businessman.
If one pays other people’s debts left and right, there is a risk of falling out from the list of the richest Ukrainians, and neither Taruta nor his business partners, Vitaly Gayduk (#12) and Oleg Mkrtchan (#13), do not want that.
