MOSCOW – An Antonov An-2 aircraft has crashed during an exhibition performance in Balashikha, Moscow region, a source with emergency situations services told Interfax.

“Demonstration flights are conducted on the occasion of the anniversary of the first An-2 aircraft on the outskirts of Balashikha on Saturday. During one of the performances, the pilot lost control and crashed into the ground at a low altitude,” the source said.

Following the crash, the aircraft broke apart and caught fire.

“The plane fell onto the strip before the audience, two people on board were killed,” the source said.
