Gazprom: Ukraine's actions make consequences of gas dispute unpredictable

6 January, 12:18 | Interfax-Ukraine
Moscow, January 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Gazprom is doing everything possible to prevent cuts in gas supplies to Europe, but the company is not omnipotent, Gazprom Deputy Chairman Alexandr Medvedev said on Tuesday.

"Despite our attempts to bring the Ukrainian side to negotiations, we haven't see anyone for five days, and only get news from the press," Medvedev said at an interview on the news program Vesti. He is now holding talks with partners in London on the issues of Russian gas supply to Europe.

According to him, "what we see through the press does not add either to our optimism or the physical volume of gas."

"One hand steals from the export pipe, and another one steals the gas owned by RosUkrEnergo, the gas in the underground storage is not exported, [and] despite Gazprom's attempts to sustain gas supplies for Europe, we are limited in what we can do here," Medvedev said.

"If Ukraine puts physical hindrances [in place] now - and it has in fact done so by refusing to accept more gas into its gas transportation system - it will be very difficult to predict the consequences of these actions," he said.

Doing everything possible to prevent cuts in gas supplies to Europe - this is the trendy term for \"cutting gas deliveries in half.\"

If both sides claim to be saintly martyrs, you probably have two wolves in sheep\'s clothes circling each other, and about to be disappointed.

KGB Gazprom Inc. has no credibility. Their words are manure.
