Russia Lost Over $10B From Ukrainian Drone Strikes This Year, Commander Says

Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky said at least $9.5 billion came from indirect losses as a result of the Ukrainian drone strikes.

Ukrainian drone strikes inflicted over $10 billion in damage on Russian territory between January and May 2025, according to official estimates.

During a press conference on Sunday, June 21, Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky provided the figures and said the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and other units directed these operations.

Direct damages amounted to $1.3 billion, which included the destruction of oil refining, energy, logistics and transport facilities, Suspilne reported, citing Syrsky’s comments.

He added that at least another $9.5 billion in indirect losses resulted from halted industrial operations, disrupted transportation, and blocked logistics chains in Russia.

Syrsky said the operations were aimed at weakening Russia’s military-economic potential.

Syrsky also hailed the cost-effectiveness of the deep strike operations, adding that every dollar spent on the operations causes about $15 in damage to Russia.

“Of course, we will continue strikes on Russian territory under the ‘Deep Strike’ campaign,” Syrsky said. “We will scale up both the scope and depth. Taking into account that we are not fighting against the civilian population – we are targeting and destroying strictly military objectives.”

On June 1, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) confirmed a major drone strike against Russian military airfields, damaging or destroying what it said was 34% of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers via a covert operation codenamed “Operation Spiderweb.”

The SBU said the strikes, which targeted airfields housing Russia’s long-range bombers, resulted in an estimated $7 billion in damage – a figure that has not yet been independently verified.

Kyiv Post’s sources within Ukraine’s intelligence services earlier confirmed that at least 41 bombers were damaged or destroyed during the operation.

Earlier, sources within the SBU told Kyiv Post that the operation had been in the works for more than 18 months and was personally overseen by President Volodymyr Zelensky and executed by SBU Chief Lt. Gen. Vasyl Malyuk and his team.
