Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Friday’s Alaska talks will start at 11:30 a.m. local time in Anchorage, at the Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base.
It would be 10:30 p.m. in both Kyiv and Moscow after considering the time difference.
Ushakov, cited by state media Ria Novosti, said on Thursday morning that the meeting would kick off with an in-person meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin before a bilateral delegation meeting.
According to Ushakov, the agenda will center on settling the war in Ukraine and potential cooperation between the US and Russia, and potentially other international issues.
After announcing the talks, Trump floated the idea of territorial concessions for Kyiv framed as land swaps, but later toned it down, saying the key US goal on Friday – after his Wednesday call with Kyiv and European leaders – would be to secure a ceasefire.
But late on Wednesday, the Treasury Department also temporarily lifted certain sanctions on Russia in what it said was required to facilitate the meeting, as well as an amuse-bouche in the form of a proposal to share in the rare earth minerals deal the US inked with Ukraine, presumably a way to entice Moscow to take up Trump’s offer.
As for the delegation meeting following the Trump-Putin talks, each side would consist of five representatives, according to Ushakov.
For the Russian side, it would be Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Head of Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and Ushakov himself.
The US delegation is rumored to consist of Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg.
Ushakov said Trump and Putin will both give a short speech before the meetings. The duration of the meetings will be determined by how the talks go.
The US has yet to release details of the talks from their side at the time of publication.
